February 11, 2005 - 10:43 am SAME PLANET, DIFFERENT WORLDSI'm sure you all know my friend Erik by now. But you may not know that in addition to being the shizzle, he is THE MAN when it comes to computer knowlege. Erik is SO that guy from Office Space. No, not the guy with the red Swingline Stapler. The main guy, the cool one that dates the waitress. Anyway, Erik emailed me this description of an exchange that took place at his office last week and I just had to share: Corporate Moment #247 We got an urgent request regarding the "CARS" application, yet another acronym for something meaningless, or in this case, the Customer Analysis Reporting System for WalMart. It went a little something like this: Erik: Anybody know what CARS is? Nerd 1: CARS? What's that? Nerd 2: I think it used to run on the Crystal Enterprise. Manager: Now I think it runs on Microstrategies. We no longer support that infrastructure and haven't for some time now. Erik: So is it safe to say we're through with CARS, we're through with bars, and now we only eat guitars?
Nerds 1-3: [stunned silence]
