I can't agree any more with what you wrote. I'm so tired of parents and their lack of discipline for their kids. In addition to the lack of discipline, it's like the word NO is a four letter word these days. We make sure our son (daughter is only 5 months old) is polite and knows his boundaries. My sister, who has two kids who haven't heard "NO" in a few years and wonders why her kids are such brats, looks at my wife and me as if we are torturing our kid by giving him a time out for pitching a fit when something doesn't go his way. Makes me crazy.

I know! I was at the doctor recently and opened "Parenting" magazine to an article about ways to set limits without saying the word "NO." What exactly is wrong with "NO" these days?

curious to know what you think of this- my little guy refuses to wear a jacket or long pants even when it is 38 degrees outside. i've decided not to tell him what to wear, let him make his own decisions in the morning, and consequently suffer the consequences.

I'm all for having kids realize consequences on their own, particularly where responsibilities like chores and homework are concerned. But when it comes to health and safety, you're the boss. He may be scowling at you on the outside, but deep down he's damn glad he's wearing that coat.
